On a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon (18 August) we held our annual Club Day with a theme this year of brightly coloured bowls wear. As the 'photos show, many of our members were dressed to impress and the prizes for the most colourful went to Lyn Hodgson and Paul Milliner.

The afternoon began with a Spider Competition in aid of VIBE (Visually Impaired Bowls England), which was won by John Weatherill. This, together with additional donations, raised £106. It was followed by a fun triples bowling competition using two jacks, with extra points for hitting the white one! The winners were Amber Steel, Gloria Edwards and Martin Prime, whilst the runners-up were Katie Bennett, Liz Tillett and John Lancaster. Our thanks to Gerry Tredgett for thinking up and organising this novel competition, which was much enjoyed by all. The event was topped off with our usual buffet tea.

Many thanks to all the members who helped make the occasion such a great success with setting up in the morning, food contribution and preparation of the buffet and a mass clear up effort afterwards.

A lovely happy-go-lucky afternoon.
